Museum Texture in Kortrijk tells the story of the linen and flax industry along the River Lys (de Leie). A story of punishing craftsmanship and entrepreneurship, of daring innovation and constantly reinventing oneself. Throughout three rooms, you can see, hear, smell, touch and taste that story: from contemporary flax innovations in the Wonder Room over the fascinating history of the linen and flax industry in the Leie Room to a selection of magnificent damasks, lace and fabrics in the Treasure Room.
With Studio Texture, the museum has added another room. Or rather a workplace, where makers, artists, researchers, adventurers, designers and you as well can get to work with soft materials and textile techniques. To make new, stunning creations in the pioneering spirit of the past.
