Lead is a heavy metal. We provide the necessary protection during the workshop. It is not recommended to work with lead during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Let yourself be enchanted by the magical interplay of light and color! In the Glow & Glass workshop, you will discover the centuries-old craft of stained glass and create your own 20 x 20 cm panel step by step. You can choose from various designs and learn to work with professional tools such as a glass cutter, grinding materials, lead profiles, and a soldering iron. Under guidance, you will cut the glass to size using templates, place the pieces in lead, and connect everything by soldering to create a sturdy whole. You will experience how color, composition, and light combine to form a unique work of art. The workshop is suitable for beginners as well as experienced creatives. At the end of the session, you will go home with a self-made stained glass panel that makes any room shine.
Stained glass windows, whether painted or not, are usually embedded in the architecture of a building. The stained glass window is intended to create atmosphere in the room. The daylight penetrates the glass and elevates the whole into a successful kinetic work of art. It enchants the entire space, as it were, through its splendor of colors.
When the ravages of time threaten this fragile art form, restoration becomes necessary to safeguard the work for the future.
Peggy Hermans has worked in the Netherlands for over 30 years, where she not only guided several artists in realizing their artworks but also had the opportunity to create several windows herself for places of worship and the like. In addition to creating new glass works, she has also participated in the restoration of several stained-glass windows dating from the 15th to the 20th century in both Belgium and the Netherlands.
Furthermore, she is affiliated part-time as a lecturer in the Art Craft of Stained Glass. The course is offered as Part-time Art Education in Anderlecht.
